I was assigned to do a review on these books recently and took the project on even though I'm in no way a builder, or even remotely familiar with the basics of building. I'll be honest, I tried to get out of it, but since I'm the person that isn't afraid to try new things, and the staff thought it would be a kick, I was nominated to do the review.
The book that is received from the site looks impressive. Yes, I printed the whole thing. But, even though there are over twelve thousand plans that span a range of projects and plans, diagrams, and schematics for each project in the book. I needed to be sure that somebody who knew what they were doing would find it helpful. I tracked down my neighborhood contractor and asked him to look at the book. What I found out was that the book, and bonuses offer more information and detail than is required or included on most plans. Whether you are building a birdhouse or a stable, you will find detailed plans and explanations on what to do during each phase of building. So, I picked out a small shed and decided to put the "anybody can do this" phrase in the sales letter to the test. I have to admit that I employed the services of a helper who did the heavy lifting and had a swarthy "helper" look. Then I sat about following the directions for the small shed. All of the materials that I needed were listed on the recipe, er, directions. Taking my list to the lumber store I was soon loaded up with all of the two by somethings and eight by somethings that were needed for my project. A person who has any idea at all of woodworking and building basics can do these projects way quicker than me. There is nothing left out of the directions and they are easy to follow. But hey, I got it done without any professional assistance. And, it really looks like a shed too! The sales letter said that I would save money and I did, a ton of money. The letter said that anybody could do it, and I did all by myself! I used the tips and tricks bonus book a lot and was able to avoid some of the issues that would trip up a "novice." For which I will be eternally grateful. According to my contractor friend the book is excellent for experienced builders who don't like to waste time with plans. According to me, this book is an invaluable tool for people who don't have a clue what they are doing but can follow directions. It doesn't matter what your skill level is, you will find that the books and bonuses you get are affordable and will be something you will continue to use. Now that I'm officially a "builder" I can say without a doubt that My Shed Plans Elite Review gets a thumbs up for an easy to use package for making stuff.
