The pressure washer business is a lucrative industry. To stay on top of the game, you have to make sure that all your equipment is working properly and that includes the pumps. Pump repair is very essential and it is an easy job for those who know how to do it. Now if you want your equipment to be fully functioning all the time, then proper maintenance is a must. For pressure washers that are of industrial grade, there are two common types of pumps used, one is the Cat pump and the other one is the General pump.

The pump is directly connected to the main engine while two parallel belts are connected to the pump to power it. In order for the pump to do its job, it needs the right amount of water flowing in it. Insufficient water can lead to burn out. Turn off the engine as soon as you see that there is no more water running in the pump. Also, you have to change the oil in a span of once a month.

In the course of pump repair, it is wise to check the valves inside it and replace it when necessary. Every 300 to 500 hours, the valves should be replaced. To change the valves, you only have to unscrew the bolt, put out the valve and replace it with the brand new one. Make sure you wrench back the bolt as tight as possible.

Drain the oil and see whether you have a problem. If the oil looks the same, then you are safe. If it has bubbles or if it turned white, then there are two things that might have caused this. Overheating is one cause and a crack is another.

Make sure that the belt is fitted tightly and fitted well. If you notice any drips, make the appropriate actions to repair the damage. Usually, a Teflon tape is all it needs. This will stop the leak and prevent any rust as well. Teflon is easy to remove as well if ever you need refitting in the future.

Low pressure inside the pump is one of the most common pump repair problems. There are a multitude of reasons that may cause this. Among these reasons include faulty water supply, leakage in the hose, belt slippage, worn out gun nozzle tip, slow engine rpm, faulty pressure gauge, malfunctioning spray nozzle tip and dirty inline filter.

Like a human being, you can tell that something is wrong just by listening to the sound the pump is making. If the pump has become very noisy you might want to check the air suction line. This is related to the water supply and its connections. If the valve springs are the problem or if the bearings are already worn out, contact your dealer as soon as you can.

It is the job of the pressure washing contractors to know the ins and outs of pump repair and maintenance. Those discussed here are only the tip of the iceberg. If you are not knowledgeable in the area, better seek the assistance of the experts so any damage done will be corrected in time for business.
