Ebay, now a by-word in e-commerce, is now a sales and consumer culture phenomenon. Having secured a niche for itself as THE online auctions authority of the moment, even Hollywood is enamored with Ebay, as the brand does get dropped on sitcoms and movies from time to time. Only a few other online consumer websites have earned the affections of mainstream media.
Nonetheless, you should master the art of selling on eBay, not unless you want to miss out on the biggest business venture you may find in online. But eBay goes beyond online auctions. As a shopper, you may find items you've really wanted for so long, right there on eBay. They say that "Knowledge is Power," and indeed, that is where you should start, with eBay. When you make up your mind that you are going to make money off of eBay, and by hook or by crook, have fun with eBay, you have to start learning about it. Sites like the Powerseller Princess are great places to start; and leafing through eBay's FAQ's won't hurt, either. The basics of eBay isn't so hard, when you think about it. As you may have been familiar with by now, you would need to register for an account. Like any other website that requires registration, you would need to verify your account via email. When you're done with that, you may now use eBay! Selling on eBay could work three ways: 1) Selling stuff you no longer use, but could still have value; 2) Selling wholesale items that you could get on a bargain; 3) Selling items that other people sell. The latter is called Affiliate Marketing, or Drop Shipping. You may also sell on eBay items that you may ship and deliver to your customers, as well as downloadable or electronic items that may be delivered instantly. Examples of the latter include eBooks, mp3 music, or even prepaid cellphone credits, for countries that rely heavily on prepaid cellphone services. Now about the Affiliate program, the concept is this: you would promote other people's sales, and when you get sales, you and the item's owner could split the profits. You may also promote eBay on your own sites, or even social networks, and you could earn from eBay directly for your referrals. To campaign for your new eBay business, you could start by using the biggest traffic tool available today: Twitter. Some eBay powersellers actually network best via Twitter; also, using Twitter is quite entertaining. With an eBay account and a resourceful attitude, there is no telling what you could do! The possibilities are endless for eBay, and as you work towards becoming a Powerseller, one who has sold thousands of items on eBay, your new online business could very well turn into your main cash cow!
